Jerry Dowell is a throwback enjoying a comeback that has no end in sight. Dowell - a singer, songwriter, recording artist, poet and front and center of the Jerry Dowell Band - has retired from performing but revels nowadays in his so many of his 83 songs from decades past, a revival sparked in ways that did not exist in his heyday, courtesy of the advent of YouTube, which wasn't on the radar during the time in which Dowell was a Mid-American sensation, belting out some of his original, popular songs such as "Condition of the Highway," "Teresa," "Loaded Gun, (which on YouTube had nearly 300,000 views as of December, 2020)" and "If I Saw You In The Moonlight."
A cowboy in spirit who served in the U.S. Army, Dowell has made a significant and important impact in music in the Midwest for over 50 years. Still does, too.

Jerry Dowell has touched many musicians as well as his fans along his journey in the music world. The impact Jerry has on the music scene in Kansas is more than significant in the lives of many people.
The Jerry Dowell Band was originally called Jerry Dowell and the 7 Thunders Band. The main members of the 7 Thunders Band, which helped launch Jerry’s solo career were: Robb Eaton, Bob Butler, Randell Platt, Rick Camp, Kyle Tomes, Kim Eaton, and Doug Bennett.
As time went on and there were a few member changes, the name was changed to The Jerry Dowell Band. Some of the members of the 7 Thunders band continued or returned with The Jerry Dowell Band for a considerable length of time were: Doug Bennett, Kyle Tomes, and Rick Camp. Justin Rollheiser and Jay Hirshberg were major contributors in this incarnation of the band.
After that, the list becomes numerous with many musicians who were a part of the whole of Jerry’s career. Jay Hirshberg had a major role in 3 of Jerry’s albums; The Ascending Masquerade, Naked, and Prelude To The Apocalypse, and performed live with Jerry, also. Other highly significant musicians with major contributions are: Matt Russo, Rick Kloog, Paul Greenlease, Bill Spease, Rachael Melton, Sandy Jaggard, Lisa Eaton, Jackie Ellis, Kevin Hupp, Jem Razz, Andrew Feldman, Eric Nettle, Brandon Amalani, Dustin Mott, Thomas Nelson, Denny Osburn, Butch Smith, Kenny Glover, Mark Cohic, Johnny Hamil, Marvin Gruenbaum, Dennis Stanchik, Gary Helms, James Roswald, Glenn Major, Tom Downey, Scott Martinez, Jeremiah Dowell, John Larkin and more.
